The Shipping/Receiving & Assembly Production Team Member is responsible for the accurate handling of outbound and inbound materials, with a primary focus on preparing, packaging, and coordinating the shipment of custom signage and related components. This includes verifying documentation, scheduling carriers, inspecting products, and maintaining shipping records. The role also involves receiving and organizing incoming materials and updating inventory systems. When needed, this position supports general production tasks, including basic sign assembly, labeling, and shop upkeep. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow technical documentation, and a collaborative, adaptable mindset to support daily operations across departments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Shipping:

• · Inspect completed signage for quality and readiness.
• · Ensure all shipping documentation (such as packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping labels) are accurate and complete, entered correctly in the appropriate system or software, and printed clearly.
• · Pack finished products securely for transit, following customer specifications.
• · Coordinate with couriers/freight companies; schedule pickups and track shipments.
• · Obtain and compare freight quotes; communicate shipping costs internally.
• · Make occasional local deliveries or pickups using company vehicle.
• · Maintain a clean and organized shipping area; reuse clean packing materials where possible.

Receiving:

• · Unload incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders.
• · Operate forklift to move materials safely.
• · Inspect for damage; document and report any discrepancies.
• · Store materials appropriately in warehouse or deliver to correct department.
• · Update inventory records to reflect received goods accurately..
• Claims & Inventory:
• · Perform regular stock counts and assist with inventory audits.
• · Help file and follow up on claims for shipping or receiving issues.
• · Report low stock levels or inventory discrepancies to the Production Manager.

Assembly and General Production Tasks:

• · Assist with production tasks during shipping downtime or high-volume periods
• · Assist with simple assembly tasks such as applying hardware, labeling, or packaging signs.
• · Help with trained production tasks - like stud welding, flame polishing, or touch-ups - after proper instruction and when needed.
• · Help maintain overstock inventory, keep work areas clean, and assist with general shop organization and upkeep.

Qualifications

• · High school diploma or equivalent.
• · Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or logistics preferred.
• · Familiarity with packaging materials, labeling, and standard shipping documentation.
• · Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is beneficial.
• · Ability to read and follow work instructions, build sheets, or technical shop drawings.
• · Forklift certification preferred; must be able to safely operate warehouse equipment.
• · Valid driver’s license required for local pickups and deliveries.
• · Proficiency with basic computer software such as Microsoft and standard shipping portals (e.g., UPS, FedEx).
• · Willingness to support production tasks as assigned, including basic assembly and shop work when trained.
